Refunds & Right of Withdrawal
Last updated: 1 August 2026
The short version
You get 14 days to change your mind about a paid plan. If you want your subscription to start immediately, you waive that right for the part you have already used — you tick a box saying so at checkout. Cancel any time and you keep access until the period you paid for runs out.
Your statutory right
As a consumer in the EU you may withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of entering it, without giving a reason. This comes from the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and Estonia’s Võlaõigusseadus, and nothing in our Terms takes it away.
Why we ask you to waive it
dub44 is a digital service that starts working the moment you pay — there is no delivery to wait for. The law lets a service start inside the 14 days only if you expressly ask for it and acknowledge that, once we have fully performed, you lose the right to withdraw.
So at checkout you confirm two things:
- You want the subscription to start immediately, before the 14 days are up.
- You understand that you lose the right of withdrawal for the portion of the service already supplied.
If you would rather not waive it, email us and we will start your plan on day 15 instead. You keep the full withdrawal right and pay nothing until then.
What you get back if you withdraw
Withdraw within 14 days and we refund what you paid, minus a proportionate amount for what you actually used, measured in generated minutes against your plan allowance. If you generated nothing, you get everything back. We refund within 14 days of being told, to the card you paid with.
How to withdraw or cancel
Both are self-serve in Settings, and neither needs you to email anyone. Withdraw shows exactly what you will get back before you confirm, refunds it, and ends the subscription immediately. Cancel stops the next renewal and leaves your access running to the end of the period you have paid for.
They are different things: cancelling is not a refund. If you would rather write to a person, hello@dub44.com works too — a plain statement that you are withdrawing is enough, no form required.
Outside the 14 days
We do not refund part-used months as a rule, because the cost of generating audio is spent the moment you generate it. Two exceptions, and we apply them without argument: if the service was broken and we could not fix it, and if you were charged after cancelling. Ask, and if the situation is obviously unfair we will sort it out.
The trial
The 7-day trial takes a card but charges nothing. Cancel before it ends and no payment is ever taken, so there is nothing to refund. We email you two days before the first charge so the date is never a surprise, and the exact date is shown in Settings throughout.
If the first charge does go through and you change your mind, that payment starts its own 14-day withdrawal window — the same terms as any other.
Disputes
If we cannot resolve something between us, EU consumers can use the Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr, or in Estonia the Consumer Disputes Committee (tarbijavaidluste komisjon). We would much rather you just emailed us first.
